About The Owner

A proud Louisville native, Daniel started painting at just 19 years old. What began as a job quickly became a passion—and within a year, his natural skill and strong work ethic earned him a role as a project manager. Eager to grow and carve his own path, Daniel launched his own painting company in 2004, subcontracting work from the very company that gave him his start.

Over the next two decades, Daniel honed his craft both in the field and behind the scenes—wearing every hat from painter to business owner. He learned the trade through hands-on experience and built his business the same way: through trial, error, and a lot of valuable lessons. Along the way, he discovered what truly matters in this industry: taking care of customers, treating employees with respect, and always doing the right thing—even when no one’s looking.

Working with countless clients and contractors over the years, Daniel noticed a common thread: the companies people trusted most weren’t just great at painting. They were clear communicators, reliable partners, and people of integrity. That stuck with him—and it became the foundation of Opus Painting.

Outside of work, Daniel lives in St. Matthews with his wife. Their four children are now grown and off pursuing their own paths. When they’re not working, Daniel and his wife love traveling south as often as possible—especially anywhere with water nearby. (With a last name like Salmon, it just feels right.)
